The team at Hills Physiotherapy Emerald are a neat reflection of the diversity of the surrounding community which has a unique blend of the community feel inherent in a semi-rural village (and the farming/gardening/agricultural responsibilities associated), and the talent, drive and professionalism of a large pocket of established business people, entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, and artists.
Hills Physiotherapy Emerald has grown into the premier Allied Health facility in the Dandenong Ranges region, offering Physiotherapy, Hydrotherapy, Myotherapy, Remedial Massage, and Orthotist services. We have a wonderful historic building located at the corner of Main Road and Monbulk Road, opposite Woolworths and Worrell Reserve. To see the wonderful staff who work at our Emerald location, please check the therapists page.

Physiotherapy for the Hills
We have Physio’s who specialise in all aspects of life in the Dandenongs – from the traditional sports played locally where we are involved with Monbulk Football/Netball Club (Ben Kewish), and Emerald Football Netball Club (Daniel Porter), to Equestrian Specialists, both in managing Riders and Steeds including Ben Kewish who treats the bulk of the Macclesfield Adult Riders Association. We have special interest in Paediatrics (Nikki Ceeney) and take many referrals from local Maternal and Child Health Nurses for early movement assessment. Nikki also played elite level soccer, having gained a Soccer Scholarship to the Freed-Hardeman University of Texas to complete her Exercise Science degree, prior to being accepted to Melbourne University’s doctoral Physiotherapy program. This team is strengthened by the addition of Michael Reid, who began working for us at Rowville, and took the opportunity to offer some sessions from our Emerald practice and our Emerald Pilates studio. Michael has been an elite level runner and currently has a passion for mountain bike riding. Daniel Smit also brings a twist to the usual Physio skill-set, having been a successful Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture practitioner prior to doing his doctoral physiotherapy degree. Daniel has special interest in paediatrics and being a father of four himself, understands the demands of parenting on the body. Ben Jones is another local, having grown up in Upwey, and now provides his services to the Emerald community with skill and passion. His background in elite tennis will have you swinging freely in no time.
ALL of our therapists at Hills Physiotherapy either live locally or grew up nearby, and so we are aware that much of the community work “off the hill” and so we strive to provide early and late appointments and Saturday mornings, so that those who don’t get home until 6:30pm or later can still find time for managing their injuries/conditions. We are part of the local community and support many sporting teams with sponsorship, provide education sessions for local schools and community groups, work-place assessments, and Home Visits (Daniel Porter and Michael Reid) for those too unwell to make it to the clinic.
One of the services unique to this practice is the Aquatic Physiotherapy, also known as Hydrotherapy. This is run out of the Monbulk Aquatic Centre, and provides a lower impact environment for rehabilitation of early post-surgical conditions (total knee and hip replacement, leg fractures, TAC injury and multi-trauma). Universally well liked, this class will allow people who struggle with land based exercise to walk, squat, float and do all manner of exercises. If necessary, treatment can be provided in the water also, with the relaxing benefits of floatation combining with manual therapies for relief of pain and restoration of movement.
In 2016 we were proud to unveil our new premises, the Hills Physiotherapy Clinical Pilates Studio. This new state-of-the-art facility allows us to provide the best available rehabilitation for the whole community. Whether you have chronic pain, neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinsons Disease or Multiple-Sclerosis, or if you’re recovering from Child-Birth, Sports Injuries or Road-Trauma – you will love the challenging, graduated exercise that this sophisticated movement philosophy can offer. You have to try it to understand why everyone raves about it.
